Teaching Assistant - Special Needs

Teaching Personnel are working with a special educational needs school in North Dorset who are looking for more teaching assistants who are available on a day to day basis as well as for long term work. This is due to growth in the intake of pupils coming into school. The pupils in this school do have varying needs such as:

• Mild to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD & SLD)
• Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
• Autism (ASC)
• Speech and language difficulties
• Sensory impairments

The young people can present challenging behaviour and the successful teaching assistants will need to be able to de-escalate challenging behaviour.

- Paid on a weekly basis - Well facilitated Pupil Referral Unit - Support from welcoming department and experienced senior leadership at staff - Working with a student on a 1:1 basis, encouraging participation in education - Good experience for aspiring teacher

It is essential to have experience of supporting adults or children with SEN, whether this is in an educational capacity or alternative. People from the following backgrounds usually get on well: prisons, ex military, youth workers, psychology, social workers, and residential care settings.
