Working via Teaching Personnel
We are looking for a dedicated, resilient and experienced SEMH Learning Support Assistant to support students in a secondary school environment. This role is ONLY suitable for candidates with prior SEMH experience and is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference to young people who need it most
⚠️ PLEASE NOTE:
✅ Previous experience supporting students with SEMH needs is ESSENTIAL
❌ This role is not suitable for candidates without relevant experience
The Role:
As an SEMH LSA, you will work closely with students who require additional social, emotional and mental health support to fully access education. You’ll help create a calm, safe and structured environment where students can thrive
️ Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs

Support emotional regulation, behaviour management & wellbeing
-
Assist students both inside and outside the classroom
-
Build strong, positive and trusting relationships with students
-
Support teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams with tailored strategies
-
Act as a positive role model and consistent support figure
The Ideal Candidate:
-
✅ Proven experience working with SEMH students (required)
-
Calm, patient and resilient under pressure
-
Strong communication and de-escalation skills
-
❤️ Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people
-
Confident managing challenging behaviour in a positive way

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
