Are you a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs? Then this could be the role for you!

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our vivacious and hard-working staff. We are looking for someone who can support SEN on an ad hoc basis within local schools, as Teaching Personnel have exclusive agreements with a number of Federations and Trusts across Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster. You will work with students with physical disabilities, who will require support using their wheelchair/frame/hoists. There will be an element of personal care involved in this role, so prior experience is essential. You may also work with children who express challenging behaviour and who are diagnosed as being on the Autistic Spectrum. We are looking for someone who would be comfortable supporting in mainstream as well as in a Specialist setting.

The ideal candidate will have some experience of working with SEN and will have outstanding inter-personal skills. You will need to be patient and sensitive with the ability to encourage and motivate children as well as being able to work effectively in a team. Experience of current phonics/Maths schemes will be advantageous, but not essential, as you will be supporting in core subject areas. We can offer additional training through our CPD Academy and will be running a Team Teach Course during the February half-term. You will need to take into account children's learning styles and what motivates them to stay engaged, using positive behaviour management.

Our ideal SEN Teaching Assistant would be;

  • Moving and Handling trained
  • experienced supporting children with physical disabilities/ASC
  • be patient and sensitive
  • be able to motivate children who are disengaged from their learning
  • able to support in core curriculum areas

Teaching Personnel can offer you;

  • experience working in mainstream and specialist settings
  • work in schools exclusive to Teaching Personnel
  • a dedicated, specialist consultant working for you
  • ad hoc work that fits around you and your existing commitments
  • access to our unrivalled CPD Academy to develop your skills further
  • support at interview stage with our experienced staff and interview guides
  • £50 refer a friend scheme
