Teaching Personnel is seeking to appoint a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school based in Southampton. This is a term-time only position that offers the opportunity to support children and young people with a range of complex learning needs.
About SEN Schools:
SEN schools specialise in providing tailored education and support to pupils who have additional needs that may include learning difficulties, physical disabilities, communication challenges, autism spectrum disorders, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) conditions. These schools aim to create a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child can develop academically, socially, and emotionally.
Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant within an SEN school, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils to access the curriculum and reach their individual potential. Your work will involve close collaboration with teachers and other professionals to implement personalised learning plans, adapt resources, and assist with specialised interventions.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct support to pupils with a variety of SEN, including one-to-one and small group assistance

Assist in the delivery of differentiated teaching and learning activities tailored to individual needs

Support the development of communication, social skills, and emotional regulation

Help maintain a positive, calm, and safe learning environment

Contribute to monitoring and reporting on pupil progress

Collaborate with the wider school team to ensure pupils’ holistic development
Candidate Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs is highly desirable

Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills

Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check or be registered with the DBS Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
