Job description

Full time Teaching Assistant required for Special School in Knaresborough.  

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Special Needs Teaching Assistant on a full time basis, commencing September 2020.

The school, located in Knaresborough, caters for pupils aged 4-19 with a range of additional learning needs, including Autism, Moderate to Severe Learning Disabilities, and Speech, Language and Communication Needs.

Pupils access a personalised curriculum to meet their specific and individual needs, and require a high level of support to access learning.

We therefore require a Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs to make progress in their learning and who is able to meet the holistic needs of pupils, which will include academic support; social, emotional and mental health support, and support with physical needs such as personal care, feeding and mobility.

We are ideally seeking an individual with previous experience in a specialist setting, which may include schools, alternative provisions or care settings. You will be well equipped to support learners with Special Educational Needs and to work with colleagues to create action plans in line with pupils’ Education, Health and Care Plans.
