Teaching Assistant Position: Multi-site Pupil Referral Unit

Teaching Personnel are currently working closely with a multi-site pupil referral unit (PRU) that has sites across Reading and Newbury. The school is purpose built to support students who cannot access the mainstream curriculum. Your role at the school would involve working 1:1 with students who struggle to engage in a whole class setting. It's also likely that you will be assisting with classwork generally and supporting the teachers in the delivery of lessons.

There are approximately 70 students across the sites: the school ideally want candidates who can drive: staff are sometimes needed on different sites. Every day is different and candidates who like new challenges should definitely apply.

Desired traits:

• Must have previous experience working with challenging pupils or experience working in a PRU setting
• Applications welcome from individuals with experience from Sports coaching , youth work, mental health facilities or primary behaviour setting
• Must be able to work with pupils who may display volatile behaviours
• Good behaviour management is essential
• Provide employment references of working with children
• Full time- term time 8.30am - 3.30pm
