I am urgently looking for a TA to provide support in an SEN School for Primary-aged children.

The Outstanding school successfully meets the needs of pupils with a diverse range of special educational needs including Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)/Complex needs, Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Multi-Sensory Impairment (MSI), Behavioural Difficulties, Physical difficulties (PD), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). You MUST have SEN experience to be considered.

The working hours will be 8:30am - 3:30pm, full-time, covering a maternity and is to start ASAP.

Regarding your daily role, morning activities include Phonics, Literacy / Numeracy or Maths / English and life skills, followed by a creative curriculum in the afternoon.

The school has an enhanced provision for pupils with PMLD and a sensory curriculum is delivered by staff who have many years of experience in this field. This includes Sensory stories, TacPac, Massage stories, Wheelchair Dancing and the use of multi-sensory rooms. The school also has several trained members of staff to deliver Rebound Therapy throughout school which the PMLD pupils extremely benefit from. Pupils with PMLD also receive Hydrotherapy swimming sessions on a rota basis which you may be asked to assist with if you are confident in the water.

You will be expected to provide personal care - feeding, toileting and changing - this is non-negotiable.

Those with Team Teach and Moving & Handling are highly sought after. As are those with experience in PECS and Makaton.

The successful applicant must be flexible, emotionally resilient and willing to learn new skills. Please state any curriculum area specialisms/interests in support of your application.
