Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs, supporting their learning and development within a nurturing educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies tailored to the needs of each student.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting students with SEN.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or adults with special educational needs, either in a school setting or a similar environment.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external professionals.
  • An understanding of different learning needs and strategies to support students with SEN, including knowledge of specific learning difficulties such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, dyslexia, and dyspraxia.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to the changing needs of students and the school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
