Teaching Assistant

This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

A school in HG3 need a TA to assist in their Year 6 class full-time until at least February 2021. Read on to see if this could be the role for you!

The school in question was graded as GOOD at their last inspection in 2016, and have remained consistent in terms of results and good behaviour across the school. This has largely been achieved by the Head building a good structure of staff who have been at the school for a number of years.

The school require someone to provide extra support in their Year 6 class, full-time until at least February half-term. This is because inevitably children will be behind where they should be due to the enforced lockdown, and not all students having access to remote learning. The school feel that having an extra emphasis on getting back up to speed from school's return in September will mean that the children do not lose out on this vital learning in the long run. This is especially important in Year 6 in preparation for KS2 SATs, so the school want to concentrate this extra support in this yeargroup so as not to see a slump in results compared to previous years.

The school require someone with...

  • Experience as a TA
  • Experience working with upper KS2 aged children
  • Experience taking interventions

The Head hopes that having a TA with intervention experience in the class will benefit the learning of the children immensely and mean they are sufficiently caught up. Of course this means that the booking may be extended depending on the progress the students show. Obviously a lot of the role is general class TA work, but involves taking daily groups of children for more small group work to benefit their progress. Particularly, the school would like someone with experience in the core areas of Reading, Writing and Maths, as these are the areas that they will be assessed in the KS2 SATs exams. Of course, any experience in relation to KS2 SATs would go a very long way in securing this role, as the school want someone who can effectively help the class teacher boost attainment. This role is likely to be extended past February depending on the effectiveness of the candidate and progress of the students.

If this sounds like the role for you then please apply where indicated and we will be in touch.
