Teaching Personnel are looking for an experienced, confident Behaviour Mentor to work as a Teaching Assistant in a Young Offenders Institute in the Stapleford area of Nottingham. The role is full time.

We are looking to recruit Behaviour Specialists who can specifically support students with extremely complex Mental Health Difficulties, challenging behaviour and anxiety. It is imperative that you have experience working with complex needs and Mental Health Difficulties and it is also imperative for the candidate to have MAPA training in order to be able to de-escalate and also restrain young people as a last resort, in order to keep them safe.

Qualities of this role include;

  • Monday to Friday Timetable
  • Term time only
  • Pay of £9.50 - £10.50 an hour (Based on experience)
  • Paid by PAYE (no charges)
  • Access to Teaching Personnel's CPD courses
  • Dedicated Consultant

We are looking for candidates with the following skills:

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children and young people either in education or youth/support work/prison.secure unit roles.
  • MAPA training (please note this is ESSENTIAL so please do not apply if you don't have this training)
  • Confident to work on your own initiative, as well as contributing to a team
  • Good understanding of the National Curriculum at a secondary level - this role is working with 12 - 18 year olds
  • Confidence to manage challenging behaviour and re-engage students who are disaffected and not currently engaged in their education
  • Be able to participate in any extra-curricular activities required
  • Be willing to support students off-site where required, to try and re-engage them and encourage positive attendance records.

This role is due to start as soon as possible and will be a full time role.
