Teaching Assistant Newbury/Reading

We are looking for teaching assistants and graduates in Newbury/Reading to start April 2020 working in a local provision 1:1 and in small groups with students aged 11 –19 with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties, ADHD and Autism. There is more than one position available within the provisions KS3 -KS5 departments and they are looking to appoint staff due to having requirements for additional students. The role will be focused heavily on educational and social skills alongside behaviour support and would require a resilient and caring individual.

Positions available:

Full-time Teaching Assistant in Newbury to work 1:1 with secondary aged pupils in lessons (Maths, English and Science etc). Having experience or a sports background is beneficial

Full-time Teaching Assistant in Reading to work 1:1 and in small groups with Post-16 students with social difficulties, ADHD and autism. Having experience with restraint/positive handling/physical intervention training is beneficial

Requirements

Must be able to work Monday – Friday (8:30 -4.00pm) during school term time

Must be based in Reading/Newbury or able to travel to Reading/Newbury daily

Experience supporting young people or children with mental health or challenging behaviour

Must be confident working in education (Maths, English, Science lessons support)

Must be open to supporting children and/or young adults with additional needs such as ADHD and autism

Qualifications/Degree in Social Work, Psychology and/or Sociology is beneficial but not essential

Due to the ranging needs of pupils, we will consider applicants with direct SEN//mental health support experience, sports, youth work, psychology, criminology graduates or those that have a genuine interest working in these settings.

You must meet the following criteria to be able to work with this organisation:

Have a valid child OR child and adult DBS registered onto the update service OR be able to pay for a DBS application

Provide professional references from your two most recent employers

Provide Overseas Police check if you have been abroad for more than 5 months within the last 5 years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later
