Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a consistently graded outstanding school? Are you looking for a job that offers daily challenges whilst giving you the training necessary to deal with them head on? A Primary SEN school located in the Radcliffe area of Bury are seeking to employ a Teaching assistant on a temporary contract from February 2020 to work in a KS1 class for young people with Severe Learning difficulties and Autism. This post will continue until the end of the academic year with view to a permanent post. The school are hoping to appoint an experienced Teaching assistant who has a proven background of supporting young people with additional needs, but also has the passion and desire to enhance their skill set further.

The school has been consistently graded 'outstanding' by Ofsted during the past 10 years and was described as having 'an excellent local reputation in the local community'. Although the school caters for young people with a range of needs, including those with Autism and medical difficulties, they are currently seeking a Teaching assistant to work in one of their KS1 Severe learning difficulties classes. Young people in this class hace communication difficulties, so experience using PECs and other visual communication techniques would be useful, although not imperative as training will be offered upon appointment. The class has been described as 'a lovely group' with 9 pupils and the role of the successful Teaching assistant will be to support these students on a daily basis.

The school have stated that they encourage applications from Teaching assistants of all backgrounds, as long has they have a genuine passion to support young people with additional needs. School will accept applications from Teaching assistants from the below backgrounds:

  • Teaching assistant with a background in specialist schools

  • Teaching assistant with SEN experience in mainstream schools

  • Personal assistants/support workers

  • Graduates who have degrees associating to Special educational needs including Psychology
