Due to an upcoming maternity cover, our client secondary school in Bolton are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to support SEN students from January onwards, with a view to continuing into next academic year.

The school is situated between Bolton and Wigan town centres making it accessible for candidates who live in both boroughs to commute by road or on public transport.

Highlights of role as Teaching Assistant;

  • Supporting SEN students in secondary school setting
  • Full time position with January 2020 start (Maternity cover)
  • Supportive and welcoming department to help settle new starters
  • Working with students with ASC and ADHD and facilitating their learning
  • Excellent opportunity for graduates seeking a career in education

Our client secondary is a mixed community school situated on the Bolton and Wigan border, with excellent accessibility due to its locality to a neighbouring train station. In their most recent Ofsted inspection, the school was judged to be ‘Good’ overall with behaviour and safety of students ‘Outstanding.’

Students with Special Educational Needs make excellent progress in the school and it has been accredited to the overall direction and vision of the department, along with committed staff who are intent on ensuring every student is given the necessary platform and tools to succeed whilst attending school.

The incoming Teaching Assistant will work to support students with additional and complex needs such as Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and to help them achieve in line with their peers during their studies. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar setting, preferable as a secondary school teaching assistant. There will be direction and support during the role, but there will be a requirement of the successful teaching assistant to use their initiative and understanding to support the students.
