Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Looking ahead to the second half of this Autumn term, a secondary school based close to the centre of Manchester is looking for a Teaching Assistant to join their SEN department, providing in class support. This role will primarily be focussed on providing support to those vulnerable students in lower year groups of year 7 and 8. There are a number of students who have been identified as being behind in their progress and attainment levels, and as a result, the school are keen to put in place additional support for those students focussing on Numeracy and Literacy. There will also be the opportunity to work with students in small groups, specifically providing support and intervention working with them on building confidence,

The successful individual should have relevant experience in supporting young people and be able to manage behaviour and be confident in their approach with students who aren’t particularly engaged in work.

Highlights of this support position:

  • Pay will be competitive with the earning potential up to GBP1400 per month depending on prior experience in a similar role
  • Provide numeracy and literacy support to students after the half term.

Starting ideally from Monday 2nd November but with flexibility over the start date

  • Opportunity to gain a well-rounded experience as a support TA assisting in class, with smaller groups and on a one to one basis

This secondary school prides itself on focussing on students’ requirements and providing the best learning experience. The school is housed in a new building with the latest equipment and resources with the school ideally requiring a vibrant and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who can offer their support.

The school is putting specific emphasis on the year 7 (and 8) cohort as these are the students who have 5 years to progress throughout the school so getting the support and behaviour correct now is key to the long term plan of the school. This is especially imperative given the level of learning that these students lost during the national school closure.

The school is easily accessible from the city centre via the tram link as well as regular bus routes from the South of Manchester and local areas of Tameside, Droylsden, Gorton and Levenshulme.

This role will suit a successful TA, Learning Support Assistant or someone who has provided support within a secondary school previously. Please apply now if you are interested in this TA position with your latest CV.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
