This Pupil Referral Unit offers learning opportunities for students aged from 11 to 16 from the Weymouth and Portland area who find themselves outside mainstream education either on a permanent or temporary basis.
Most students at this Pupil Referral Unit are in KS4 with most being taught on site. A small number of KS3 pupils are also on the schools roll. In addition, the school provides lessons at several locations in the area and also provides the Home Tuition provision for those unable to attend school.
The school offers core curriculum as well as enrichment sessions and activities that range from Sports, Outdoor Education, Cookery and Hair and Beauty.
All students are allocated a key worker, who takes responsibility for individual planning, review and acting as a point of contact between home and the school.
THE IDEAL SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT:
- Must be a patient and reliable
- Will be resilient and adaptable
- Be proactive in meeting student's needs
- Have experience with children or adults with SEN, mental health difficulties or additional needs
- Should be able to empathise with their pupils and be able to set a good example
THE SEN TEACHING ASSISTANT ROLE
- Supporting the teaching and learning of SEN pupils across the school, working with struggling pupils or those who have become stifled by the curriculum
- Helping students meet their potential through smaller booster groups and 1:1 sessions
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor and advance developments in both academic and social areas

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
