SEN Teaching Assistant – Waterlooville
Location: Waterlooville, Hampshire
Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Hours: Full-time / Part-time

A welcoming school in Waterlooville is looking for a committed and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team. The role will involve working with pupils with a variety of additional needs, providing the encouragement, guidance and individual support they need to succeed both academically and personally.
About the Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to ensure pupils receive the appropriate assistance throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities will include:

Providing individual and small-group support to pupils with additional needs.

Helping pupils engage positively with lessons and classroom activities.

Supporting children with their communication, social skills and emotional development.
-
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
-
Assisting with the implementation of individual support strategies and learning plans.
-
Helping to manage behaviour in a calm, consistent and positive manner.
-
Preparing and adapting resources to support individual learning requirements.
-
Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals.
-
Providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all pupils.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in supporting children with SEN and a patient, understanding approach.
You will ideally have:

Previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs.

A good understanding of SEN and inclusive education.
-
The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
-
A nurturing and encouraging personality.
-
The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.
-
A strong commitment to safeguarding and pupil welfare.
Experience within a school, SEN provision, youth work, childcare, healthcare or similar environment would be beneficial.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
