Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (1:1 SEN Support)
Location: Shawford Area
Salary: £14.25 per hour
Contract Type: Full-Time

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEN primary school in the Shawford area. This is a full-time position supporting a child on a 1:1 basis with complex autism.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the pupil access learning, develop communication skills, and feel safe and supported within the school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs
  • Support the child’s learning, emotional regulation, and social development
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team
  • Implement structured routines and behaviour support strategies
  • Monitor and record progress, providing feedback where required
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly autism
  • Understanding of complex autism and associated needs (e.g. sensory processing, communication difficulties)
  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Must hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
