The school caters for young people between the ages of 4 and 19 who have PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) or Complex Needs. A significant number of students also have a diagnosis of autism (ASC), some of whom may also have significant physical, sensory or behavioural needs. 

Duties

  • To work under the instruction/direction of senior manager/teaching staff to support the delivery of quality learning and teaching of pupils with special educational needs.
  • Work with children and young people who have a range of significant and often complex.
  • Support with personal care 
  • To undertake specified work with individuals, groups and whole classes under the direction and supervision of a qualified teacher;
  • To encourage the participation of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school, and enable pupils to become more independent learners.
  • To undertake work/care/support programmes to enable access to learning for pupils and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom

Person Specification – essential

  • Experience of working with or supporting children/adults with special needs (SEN) or mental health difficulties
  • Understanding and compassion of a young person’s Social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Experienced with personal care or comfortable to learn 
  • GCSE Maths and English

Hours are 08:30 - 15:30, Monday - Friday, term time only. If you can work full hours, there is opportunity for permanent employment. 

We also have availability for part time and adhoc/flexible/bank TA's to join the team. You must be able to work 08:30 - 15:30 but can work as little or as much as you like.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
