Teaching Assistant

Date posted : 06/05/21
£10.20 - 11.00 per hour

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

On behalf of my workforce partner secondary school in PR1, we are searching for the next cohort of Graduates (current/recent) who are looking to take on support and cover supervisor roles in the school, in hopes of gaining the experience needed to start their PGCE’s. The role of a cover supervisor and/or teaching assistant is now very common in our secondary schools and is a great way of getting front of the class teaching experience.

We are looking for confident people who can take lead of the classroom and keep the students engaged. This is a busy time of year for Teaching Personnel so please read on.....

The school has a clear mission and values:

  • ensure our students are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and confidence to undertake the next stage of their career
  • foster leadership and engagement to encourage our students to make a positive contribution to both our school and community
  • create a vibrant community where we work together, respect differences, treat one another with justice, tolerance and respect.

Role as a Teaching Assistant:

  • supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy
  • managing the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment
  • responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures
  • support pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • manage behaviour
  • dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures
  • collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
  • reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising

This is a great opportunity for recent/current graduates to get paid teaching experience. The schools are needing more support staff than ever, as we aim to close the gaps in knowledge COVID has sadly left our students with. If you are in your final year and yet to graduate, please get in touch also, as many of our schools are looking ahead to September already!

For immediate consideration, graduates are encouraged to send an updated CV to Emily, highlighting any work experience and details of your academic background and future plans via the link below.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
