Teaching Assistants needed in Portsmouth!
Are you a confident and committed Teaching Assistant looking to support young people in a meaningful way? Secondary schools across Portsmouth are currently looking for experienced Teaching Assistants to provide focused support to students on a 1:1 basis and in small group sessions.
Whether you're available for daily cover, short-term contracts, or longer-term placements, there are flexible opportunities to suit your availability and experience.
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be working closely with teachers and SENCOs to support students who may need extra help with their learning, behaviour, or confidence. Your role will be key in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring all students are given the opportunity to succeed.
What You'll Be Doing:

Offering one-to-one support to students with special educational needs or additional learning needs
-
Working with small groups to reinforce classroom teaching and boost understanding
-
Supporting classroom teachers with lesson delivery and student engagement
-
Helping to manage behaviour and maintain a calm, productive classroom environment
-
Assisting in planning and delivering tailored interventions
-
Monitoring progress and feeding back to the wider teaching team

Building positive relationships with students to encourage participation and self-confidence
What We're Looking For:

Previous experience supporting students in a secondary school is essential
-
Strong communication skills and a calm, approachable manner
-
Ability to adapt to the needs of individual students, including those with SEND or behavioural challenges

A proactive, team-oriented attitude and a genuine interest in helping young people succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
