Job description

Specialist Teaching Assistant required for a school that delivers innovative curriculum for pupils between the ages of 6 and 11 with a primary diagnosis of Autism.

The school offers a specialist learning provision which emphasizes the development of core academic understanding, encourages creativity, celebrates outdoor learning and promotes the growth of essential life sills.

Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Working with class teachers to implement support strategies and differentiation within the classroom, creating resources as required and requested
  • Deliver intimate care for pupils
  • Assess, record, and report on baseline assessments, development, progress and attainment
  • Manage pupil issues with agreed protocols
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis where requested

Person specification:

  • Be able to effectively and proactively be able to communicate with children and young people     
  • Understand how to build rapport and engage with young people who have additional needs
  • Experience of working with children or adults with special educational needs
  • The ability to work well with others
  • Be flexible and open to change – must be comfortable to work across the whole school
  • Be sensitive and understanding
  • Trustworthy

Additional information

  • 08:30 – 15:30 (35 hours per week)
  • Term time only (38 weeks per year)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
