Teaching Assistant
Summary:

Job Description:
In the Teaching Assistant role you will be expected to support pupils 1:1 or in small groups to help them with their academic work. This could be within the classroom supporting the classroom teacher or in the form of intervention groups where you will help pupils outside the classroom to help raise attainment levels in Maths and English. You will also support children with their reading in guided reading session to help raise their reading levels. Alongside academic support you will need to encourage positive behaviour in and outside the classroom by being a role model to the pupils and building a strong rapport. Additionally, you will need to create resources to aid pupils in their academic work and create display boards to showcase high quality work.

This Primary School situated in the east side of Newport has a school motto of ‘Always feel proud’. In the schools latest inspection ESTYN graded the school ‘Good’ and ‘Adequate’ in all inspection areas. ESTYN commented that pupils at this school make strong progress from their starting points and achieve well. They also mentioned that they the pupils have interesting lessons and receive good quality teaching.
