I am looking for a Teaching Assistant to promote the learning and personal development of a pupil with additional needs (ASC and challenging behaviour).
Your role will be to aid the pupil to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and independently. This will include tasks such as clarifying and explaining instructions, ensuring the pupil can use all relevant equipment and provide motivation and encouragemnet.
The young person does require additional support with speech and language, reading, spelling, numeracy, handwriting and other areas of the curriculum as well. You will have to liase closely with the class teacher, SENCO and other professionals about education health plans (EHCP's), contributing to the planning and delivery as appropriate.
The child is of primary age and has a diagnosis of ASC, this can manifest itself in many forms including challenging behaviours. You will be required to be aware of the young persons movements at all times, with time and assistance you will build a relationship, identify triggers and manage situations even before they escalate.
The role is full time, starting as soon as possible. I am looking for someone who has experience working with young people, whether this be in a school or a similar setting. You must have had experience of working with additional needs including ASC and challenging behaviours.
