Job Duties:

The Teaching Assistant will be responsible for providing support and assistance to teachers in the classroom. Duties may include:

  • Assisting with lesson planning and preparation
  • Working with individual students or small groups to provide additional support
  • Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assisting with classroom management and behaviour management
  • Supporting students with additional learning needs, including autism and sensory needs
  • Providing one-to-one support for students who require extra assistance
  • Helping with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Assisting with the assessment and monitoring of student progress
  • Supporting students with personal care and physical needs

Required Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications:

  • GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
  • NQV or CACHE qualifications in Teaching Assistance or related field

Education:

The candidate should have completed GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics. Additionally, NQV or CACHE qualifications in Teaching Assistance or a related field are required.

Experience:

Prior experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not essential. However, experience working with children or in an educational setting would be beneficial.

Knowledge and Skills:

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members
  • Patience and compassion towards students
  • Understanding of child development and learning processes
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting students with additional learning needs
  • Familiarity with manual handling techniques
  • Understanding of autism and sensory needs and ability to provide appropriate support

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, the following qualifications would be considered advantageous:

  • Higher-level qualifications in Teaching Assistance or a related field
  • First aid certification

Working Conditions:

The Teaching Assistant will primarily work within a school setting, assisting teachers and students in the classroom. The role may involve standing, walking, and lifting, as well as interacting with students of various ages and abilities. The candidate should be prepared to work full-time hours on a temporary basis.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
