We are currently recruiting for an experienced teaching assistant to work with a school in the Helston area. The school is looking for somebody who is available to work Monday - Friday, 8.30 am - 3.30pm during term time. The school is ideally looking for someone who can start after half term, though are willing to delay the start date for the right person.
Your role will involve supporting the children within the class with their reading, writing and numeracy work. You will need to be able to make learning fun to grasp the children’s attention and help enhance their learning. You will need to have good communication skills as you will need to communicate often and effectively with the teacher to keep them updated on the children’s progression and to help them highlight topics/subjects that the students are struggling with so specific work can be created to help them. You will also be required to communicate with the SENCO and parents when needed. Learning takes place both in the classroom and outdoors to help ensure creative learning is provided. The students go on exciting educational school trips which you will be required to go on and assist. In this role you will be floating around the class assisting all of the students though there may be occasions where the teacher requires you to work on a 1:1 basis with a student who is particularly struggling with a task/ subject. All of the resources you need will be provided by the class teacher with specific work for students being provided to you and also learning aids you can use such as counters will be in the classroom.
You will need to be a good role model to promote positive pupil behaviour in line with the school’s social policies this will help to prevent bullying. The school is looking for somebody who can take their own initiative and be a pro-active member in the classroom to ensure the teacher is provided the best and most effective support possible.
The ideal candidate will be aware of Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and Learning and Equal Opportunities policies. You will also need a Child Workforce DBS which can be completed during the recruitment process.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
