Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Gorton (Starting January)

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for education and a desire to gain hands-on classroom experience before starting your teaching career? Teaching Personnel is thrilled to partner with an outstanding primary school in Gorton, seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed individual to join their team from January.

This full-time position (8:30am–3:30pm) involves supporting a Year 5 class, making it the perfect opportunity for anyone considering a future in teaching or child development. You’ll work alongside experienced educators, assisting with the delivery of core and foundation subjects while gaining invaluable insight into classroom practice and pupil progress.

What We’re Looking For

  • A recent graduate eager to gain school-based experience
  • Previous experience working with children (e.g., tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, youth work, coaching, childcare)
  • A genuine passion for education and commitment to supporting children’s development
  • Proactive, dependable, and confident working independently and as part of a team

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Work with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning and build confidence
  • Assist with preparing resources and creating engaging classroom displays
  • Support pupils with diverse needs, including SEN and EAL
  • Help maintain a calm, focused, and positive learning environment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
