Teaching Assistant (Primary) – East Cardiff
Pay: £89.38 – £95 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Start: ASAP
Contract: Full-time / Part-time / Long-term (flexible)
We’re recruiting for a welcoming, community-minded Church in Wales primary school in East Cardiff (Llanedeyrn area) with a strong caring ethos, where pupils are described as kind, keen to learn and behaving very well. The school has a clear vision for improving teaching and learning, a real focus on staff wellbeing, and an engaging, inquiry-based curriculum that gives pupils a strong say in what and how they learn.
The Role
You’ll work closely with the class teacher and wider support team to help pupils thrive academically, socially and emotionally—supporting learning in class, running small-group interventions, and providing 1:1 support where needed (including ALN/SEN).
Key Responsibilities

Support learning across the curriculum (whole class, small groups, and 1:1)

Assist with literacy, numeracy, and classroom routines

Provide additional support for pupils with ALN/SEN and wellbeing needs

Help maintain a calm, positive learning environment and promote excellent behaviour

Prepare resources, support activities, and contribute to an inclusive classroom culture
What We’re Looking For

Experience in a primary school or working with children (preferred)
-
Patient, proactive, and confident supporting pupils with a range of needs
-
Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
-
Calm approach to behaviour support and building positive relationships
Requirements (Essential)

Enhanced DBS (or willing to apply – we can support)

EWC registration (or willing to register – we can support)

Right to work in the UK

If you’ve lived/worked abroad for 6+ months in the last 5 years, you’ll need an overseas police check

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
