Teaching Personnel are currently seeking to recruit a dedicated and hardworking Teaching Assistant to work in a Primary School based in the Adamsdown area of Cardiff. The position will be full-time, working alongside a class in the Foundation Phase and working across a reception and year 1 class. The ideal candidate will be working with a child on a 1:1 basis who require additional support with their learning and keeping on track with day-to-day lessons. The ideal candidate will have a nurturing nature and good communication and behaviour management skills. Experience working with children with additional learning needs is desirable in this position, using initiative and being confident creating strong relationships with the children will be essential and there may be instances dealing with challenging behaviour.

Main duties required:

• Confident providing 1:1 support to children with additional learning needs
• Engaging with the children and supporting with the preparation of resources for lessons
• Ability to complete intervention work with small groups of children to assist with learning
• On hand to support the teacher with general classroom support
• Working well as part of a team environment with the Teaching Assistants and Teachers in the class

The school are looking for an energetic and hardworking Teaching Assistant to join their friendly team with a positive attitude in the new academic year. The position will be full time with the potential to be extended until the end of the academic year ending in July 2026.  

What you will need:

• Enhanced DBS (Child Only) checks must be completed before the role will commence. (Teaching Personnel can help throughout the whole onboarding process!)
• Registered to the Education Workforce Council (mandatory requirement in Wales).
• Experience personally or in a working environment with children (desirable).
