Primary Teaching Assistant – Cardiff | Full-Time | September 2026

Teaching Personnel is looking for caring, enthusiastic, and reliable Teaching Assistants to join a number of welcoming primary schools across Cardiff from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children's learning and wellbeing while gaining valuable experience in a rewarding school environment.

 

Role Details

Start Date: September 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Location: Cardiff
Pay: £92.63–£95 per day

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers and support staff to help pupils thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils with their learning on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Assisting the class teacher with classroom activities and lesson preparation.
  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, independence, and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Promoting the safeguarding and wellbeing of all pupils.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.

About You

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience working with children in a school, childcare, or other child-based setting.
  • Be patient, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting young learners.
  • Have strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Be proactive, reliable, and able to use their own initiative.
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one).
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or be willing to register before starting.

If you do not currently hold a DBS on the Update Service or EWC registration, Teaching Personnel can support you through the application process (fees apply).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
