Job description

A vibrant and inclusive secondary school in Salisbury is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people and making a real difference in the classroom.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of learning needs, helping them to achieve their full potential both academically and socially. Working closely with teachers, the Teaching Assistant will provide targeted support in class, deliver small-group interventions, and contribute to the wider pastoral care of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class support to students across Key Stages 3 and 4

  • Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources

  • Work one-to-one with pupils who require additional support, including those with special educational needs (SEN)

  • Support teaching staff in delivering differentiated lessons

  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing

  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and school events

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students, either in an educational or youth-focused setting

  • A genuine passion for helping young people thrive

  • Patience, resilience, and strong communication skills

  • A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work as part of a team

  • An understanding of safeguarding responsibilities (training will be provided)

  • Ideally, experience supporting students with SEN or behavioural needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
