Teaching Assistant - Graduates

South and Central Manchester

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting graduates (English, Maths, Science, Humanities and MFL) ahead of September 2019 who are considering a career in secondary teaching, to join our Future Teachers Programme.

The Future Teachers Programme is a 2 part scheme which allows graduates to not only to secure paid employment as a teaching assistant following the completion of your degree, but it also provides you with a clear pathway onto a school based teacher training programme. In summary, this programme allows graduates to gain the necessary teaching assistant experience required to be confident and successful when you do decide to begin your teacher training!

How does the Future Teachers Programme work?

Our Future Teachers Programme involves working as a teaching assistant for up to 12 months (starting September 2019) with one of our fantastic client secondary schools in South Manchester, prior to beginning your teacher training programme in September 2020 at the same secondary school!

  • Full time Teaching Assistant role for 12 months - Followed by the opportunity to complete your teacher training with the same school - SCITT
  • Applicants must hold a degree or be in the process of completing your degree
  • Great opportunity for graduates wanting to pursue a career in secondary education
  • Currently looking for English, Maths, Science, Humanities, MFL graduates.
  • Get paid up to £1200 a month for the first 12 months whilst gaining essential and invaluable experience as a teaching assistant!

For the first part of the Future Teachers programme, you will work within a teaching assistant capacity whereby you will work on-site at one of our client secondary schools and support pupils in a range of areas and subjects (predominately your subject specialism). This will be a full time role with an allocated school in Greater Manchester where you will undertake a variety of tasks and activities that will give you a good understanding as to the role of a teacher. A significant proportion of these tasks and activities will also benefit your subject knowledge as you will focus on raising pupil attainment, supporting special needs pupils, covering classes, assisting with planning and preparing lessons!

Role and Responsibilities of a Graduate Teaching Assistant:

  • 1:1 specific tuition/interventions where you will utilise your subject knowledge to raise pupil attainment
  • Cover Supervisor work where you will experience covering lessons and classroom management when teachers are required elsewhere for internal training or to catch up on planning and preparation.
  • Supporting pupils with SEN when required
  • In-class support in your specialist subject to enhance pupils engagement
  • Assist class teachers with planning and preparation of lessons

If you are a graduate or due to graduate this summer and are considering a career in secondary teaching but unsure of where to start , please submit your CV below for immediate consideration to our Future Teachers Programme!
