Wanting to move from a care background into educational settings supporting children with Special Educational Needs?

Here at Teaching Personnel we are looking for individuals from a care background who would like to start working in school settings. You will be supporting students with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) ranging between 11-16 years old. The schools are based in Sheffield and we are looking for experienced care workers to become a part of these exceptional provisions. You will be part of creating a fun, lively and stimulating learning environment for pupils who have learning difficulties and additional complex needs.

While this role is a more challenging one it is highly rewarding; really being able to make an impact on children and help them grow. Class sizes are smaller than in mainstream schools and there are opportunities to support children on a 1:1 basis.

A candidate that would stand out would have prior experience with individuals with additional needs, be it in care settings, voluntary work or personal experience.

What do Teaching Personnel Offer?

  • Valuable accredited training courses such as Team Teach, teaching positive de-escalation techniques for behaviour management, and Moving and Handling which is the safe movement of children with additional needs in and around the classroom
  • A temp-to-perm scheme which can see you gain a permanent contract within a school after 20 weeks of seeing if it is the right fit for you
  • The opportunity to make the transition from care roles to specialist teaching assistant
  • Online courses to improve your knowledge of SEND
  • The flexibility to try different roles to see what suits you best!

What do you need?

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with additional needs
  • Short term or long term availability- we have opportunities for both
  • A Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)

If you would be interested in this role please give me a call on 0114 241 3341 for more information- I look forward to hearing from you!
