Teaching assistant - Edmonton

Teaching Personnel are looking for an enthusiastic teaching assistant to join a team in a special needs class; as the school have a new pupil joining a KS2 class. This will be for a special needs school based in Edmonton with a September 2019 start. The class has students with autism and complex needs , they are the liveliest and neediest class and anyone working in there needs to have bags loads of enthusiasm, be prepared to get on the floor with the children and someone who doesn't mind supporting with changing nappies. In terms of experience, autism or SEN experience would be essential and knowledge and use of PECS and Makaton would be ideal however not essential. More importantly an enthusiasm to learn! The post would be initially for the rest of the academic year with the potential to secure a contract after an extended probation period.

Special needs teaching assistant:

  • Will need to have previous experience with autism and complex special needs- minimum 6 of months
  • Provide small groups and 1:1 support where necessary
  • Must be able to support with nappy changing
  • Part of multi site special school with loads of opportunity for progression and development
  • Full time - Term time - 8.30am- 3.30pm
  • Enthusiasm to learn and be able to get hands on!
  • Good transport links on Overground and underground to Edmonton
