Teaching Personnel are currently working with a SEND school in Darlington to recruit an experienced Support Assistant to work with children and young people in Key Stages 3 and 4. The position is to work alongside children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and therefore demands a dedicated individual wanting to fully commit to the role. The successful candidate is to work on a full time basis, commencing ASAP!
As a SEMH Support Assistant, you will be supporting children who often display challenging behaviour. Because of this, the candidate must have some experience working with children and young people with SEMH. As well as this, de-escalation training would be advantageous and the school would also consider a candidate with youth work backgrounds, or similar roles. The candidate must be be confident working with effective behaviour management.
You will be working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour such as:
- Anxiety
- Exclusion
- Speech and language difficulties
- A disengagement with the classroom and learning
- Withdrawn attitudes
- Frustrated, angry and aggressive tempers
- Truancy
Teaching Personnel can offer Behaviour Support Assistants competitive rates of GBP57-65 per day, long term rates can be negotiated on your behalf so we urge you to contact us as soon as possible.
