Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently looking for a SEN Learning Support Assistant to support children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in an Outstanding school in Townsville, Castleford. This is specialist educational Special Needs provision for primary aged pupils and offers a varied curriculum to meet the holistic needs of their students. This will be on a flexible supply basis to start, however this could become a permanent position for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of care, both on a 1-1 basis or 2-1 basis. You must have previous experience supporting autism in some capacity, alongside a working knowledge of safeguarding rules and regulations. The school would ideally look for a full-time member of staff but may have some part-time roles available.

The role:

  • Support autistic students in your care to complete day-to-day tasks
  • Ensure all personal care needs are met
  • Follow care and education plans set to specific individuals
  • Support the class teacher, as and when directed

The successful candidate:

  • Will have experience supporting children or adults with ASD
  • Will be aware of all safeguarding regulations and expectations in a school setting
  • Will have genuine compassion and a want to adequately support the students in your care
  • Experience supporting in a school environment is preferred but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
