If you have answered yes to the above then we have a role that could be your perfect step into a school based career.

We are currently supporting one of our largest Cardiff schools to recruit support staff for a number of vacancies starting in the new academic year September 2019, all of these are full time vacancies, the school have asked that the successful Teaching Assistants have previous experience or a desire to work with pupils that need extra support within the classroom. The support can come either in the form of academic support where you would be required to breakdown curriculum tasks to ensure learning can be achieved, patience is key for this type of support as some learners will work at a slower pace than set by the Teacher. Alternatively you can be required to support socially, as some of the learners show particular signs of challenging behaviour and can become restless within the classroom which hinders learning.

Key Objectives of the role:

  • To support either 1:1 or small groups within the schools bases
  • Liaise with leads of the particular bases within the school
  • Work with a variety of pupils to support their social engagement
  • Ensure pupils stay on track with learning
  • Encourage those with lower abilities to learning
  • Support risk of exclusion pupils

Requirements of Teaching Personnel:

  • Degree educated is desirable not essential
  • Previous experience working with children or in a supportive role
  • Desire to make a difference to the lives of young people
  • Initiative to work alone when instruction is not always given
  • Ability to support a variety of different needs both academic and social
