Teacher – Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Location: St Albans
Hours: 8:15 AM – 4:45 PM, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Dependent on experience
About the Role
We’re seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming, inclusive school in St Albans. In this role, you’ll work closely with children with SEN, providing the support they need both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
- Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
- Assess progress and provide constructive feedback in line with school policies.
- Foster positive behaviour through calm, consistent, and supportive approaches.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
- Contribute to wider school life, activities, and events.
- Be willing to travel between sites or outreach settings as required (a vehicle is essential for transporting pupils when necessary).

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A qualified teacher with a recognised teaching qualification.
- Educated to GCSE level (Grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths, or equivalent.
- Experienced in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Skilled in communication, behaviour management, and ICT.
- Calm, patient, compassionate, and committed to inclusive teaching.
- Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils.

- Enhanced DBS check (must be registered on the Update Service – support available if needed).
- Two recent professional references (within the last 24 months).
- Overseas Police Check (if applicable, for applicants who have lived abroad for 6+ months in the last 5 years).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
