Teacher (SEMH) - immediate start - Failsworth

The role commences as soon as possible and is for a qualified teacher who is looking for an opportunity to work in a specialist setting. The position is for a teacher who is looking for an opportunity to transition into specialist teaching. The role will commence as soon as possible and will initially run until the end of the academic year. However, this position could be ongoing dependent on funding.

An outstanding provision situated in Failsworth are currently looking to recruit a Teacher who can work within there Key stage 3 unit supporting the development of pupils with SEMH needs.The setting is an outstanding Multi Academy trust which runs across 4 sites based in Oldham/ Failsworth. Sites cater for individuals between 4 - 19 with a Statement of SEN or an EHCP, on the autistic spectrum and/or have significant communication and interaction difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

The role will involve planning and delivering lessons which are designed to support the optimal development of pupils with SEN. Due to the specific needs of the pupils we would be interested in applicants who have a considerable amount of experience supporting children or young people with SEMH. Please be aware that this can be working in a support capacity and does not have to be direct teaching experience. Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant would also be favourable.

The successful teacher will be:

  • An experienced teacher who is committed to supporting and encouraging the development of pupils with SEMH needs
  • Be able to adapt lessons to assure that learning is accessible to pupils with SEMH
  • Be able to establish and maintain working relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community
  • Non judgemental and be empathetic towards students
  • Ideally Team-Teach trained (can be provided)
