The Head teacher and Senior Leaders at a large Bury based secondary school are seeking to appoint a passionate Teacher of Science on a full-time basis due to a permanent member of staff set to take maternity leave in October 2019.

This exiting Teacher of Science post is set to commence from October 2019 or earlier and the Headteacher wishes to appoint a skilled practitioner with the passion and subject knowledge required to join a highly successful department.   • Teacher of Science required to cover a maternity leave from October 2019 or earlier.
  • Fixed term requirement until the end of the new academic year.
  • Applications are urged from both experienced and newly qualified teachers as relevant support will be provided to the successful post-holder.
  • Opportunity to work within an Ofsted graded 'Good' secondary school.
  • Excellent location, easily accessible via the M66.
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS £24, 373 - £40, 490.

Located towards the North of Bury town centre, this mixed comprehensive secondary school has continued to create a culture of outstanding teaching and learning throughout. As the incoming Teacher of Science you can expect to join a highly successful faculty, including the Head of Science and three members of teaching staff. The department has also seen a full refurbishment with several new laboratories, open plan learning spaces and state of the art resources within modern facilities.

The responsibilities for the successful post-holder will include but may not be limited to;

  • Plan, resource and deliver dynamic Science lessons to the highest standard, ensuring pupils have the tools required to make rapid sustainable progress.
  • Plan and prepare effective teaching schemes and lessons in line with national curriculum and schemes of work.
  • Use regular assessments in order to assess and set targets for pupils to monitor progress and respond accordingly.

The Secondary school has just over 1000 pupils currently enrolled aged 11- 16 and is easily accessible via the M66 and the surrounding areas; Bolton, Rochdale, and central Manchester. There are also numerous public transport options readily available with links across Greater Manchester.
