Teacher of Science

The Head Teacher at a growing Salford based secondary school is seeking to appoint an experienced Teacher of Science on a full-time basis from September 2019.

Due to an expansion within the Science department, there is now an exceptional opportunity for a skilled Teacher of Science to join a welcoming staff team. This positon is suitable for an experienced Teacher of Science or a newly qualified practitioner at the early stages of their career as full support will be provided.

  • Full-time Teacher of Science required from September 2019.
  • Applications are welcomed from practitioners of all disciplines; Biology, Chemistry or Physics, with applications welcome from experienced and newly qualified teachers.
  • Opportunity to work within an Ofsted graded 'Good' secondary school.
  • Located on the Salford and Wigan border easily accessible via the M60/A580.
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS £23,720 - £39,406.

The Science department boasts newly refurbished laboratories, with access to state of the art practical resources and dynamic learning spaces. As the successful Teacher of Science, you will be joining three members of full-time teaching staff and one Director of Science. The Science faculty has consistently gained well above national averages in terms of achievement across KS3/KS4.

The responsibilities for the successful practitioner will include but may not be limited to;

  • Plan, resource and deliver dynamic Science lessons to the highest standard, ensuring pupils have the tools required to make rapid sustainable progress.
  • Use regular assessments in order to assess and set targets for pupils to monitor progress and respond accordingly.
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
  • Promote the school's vision, ethos and values.

The school is located at the borderline between Salford and Wigan and boasts just over 900 pupils, aged 11-16. The school is ideally situated to be accessed via the M60/A580 (East Lancashire Road) as well as the surrounding areas; Bolton, Trafford and Wigan. There are also excellent public transport links readily available with access across Greater Manchester.
