Job description

The School which is based in the Cathedral City of Chichester close to the Coast, is looking to appoint a Teacher of Geography to join them in September on a full time, permanent basis. The school are looking to enhance their Geography provision across their Secondary phase and in order to achieve this, they need an ambitious Teacher who is passionate about teaching, learning and Geography as a whole.
The KS3 curriculum is delivered with a great emphasis on providing a range of activities, and offsite teaching and learning strategies to encourage their students to become independent learners. Their approach is a creative one and has seen impressive progress made by all of their learners as a result.
At GCSE and A Level, the school currently delivers the AQA curriculum, chosen for its good balance between physical and human Geography. The School is currently developing its newly opened Sixth Form and KS5 provision, providing new opportunities for Staff in the coming year. The subject is a popular one at the School and last summer the department achieved a positive progress score. They have more examination classes than most other Schools with more students opting to take the subject at A Level.
The school are interested in NQTs, recently qualified Teachers and more experienced Teachers who are:
- Ambitious in their career; the School are looking for teachers who can take on additional responsibilities in the near future
- Able to demonstrate an excellent track record of teaching and learning in their Subject
- Expert in the field of Geography with a willingness to teach other Humanities Subject when needs arise
- An enthusiastic individual with a real passion for Geography
- An effective communicator and sensitive to the needs of their Students
- Passionate about their professional development and support colleagues with theirs.
Applicants must have UK QTS or be an OTT with suitable experience. The School may consider UQTs, however they must be well qualified in Geography with prior teaching experience.
If you are a Teacher of Geography early in your career wanting to flourish in a highly successful department, or a more experienced Teacher looking to continue your career then please submit your application ASAP. Interviews will be arranged on application and the advert will remain live until the most suitable candidate is found.
