Teacher - Hospital School Room

Fully Qualified Teacher position:

A Hospital School Room in Southwark is seeking a Primary Teacher to start immediately, on a part time basis.

The pay is between £130 - £150 a day, depending on experience.

You will be required to work 2 - 3 days a week as this is a job share.

The Hospital School room provides a safe, friendly and welcoming environment in which each young person can succeed, thus enhancing self-esteem and aiding recovery.

The school room is open every weekday, term time only, to school age pupils between 4 and 17 years. We aim to strike a balance of academic and creative activities and encourage each child to take their work home or back to their mainstream school thereby fostering a sense of pride and achievement.

The school's aim is to enable pupils to continue with their education at an appropriate level, in order to lessen any anxieties they may have concerning their schoolwork. This will help to facilitate a smooth reintegration into their mainstream school when the time comes for them to return to school. By offering a broad and varied curriculum the quality of a pupil's stay in hospital can be a positive and an enjoyable experience. There is a balance of academic and creative activities for a pupil to do in the schoolroom and they are encouraged to take their work home or back to their own school.

Requirements:

• Hold QTS, preferably in Primary teaching
• Versatility in teaching all year groups, of different abilities, as we cannot predict who will be admitted to the hospital wards
• Positive and engaging approach
• Incredibly organised
• Proactive and a genuine passion for working with vulnerable students

Please note you do not need SEN experience, but teaching experience in Primary schools is essential.

The school are looking to take the teacher on a permanent basis. Interviews are taking place from the first week of May 2019.
