The Role

Due to these needs, they have been excluded from mainstream school and currently attend a Pupil Referral Unit* to receive an alternative education.

As a school based support worker, you will work within specific classes or with specific students, to help them to maintain their behaviour and provide emotional support where necessary. Many of the students will suffer from mental health issues such as anxiety and depression and often have associated special educational needs such as ADHD or Autism spectrum condition.
You will be required to act as a mentor, ensuring they are fully aware and understanding of the outcomes of the choices they make, and advise them on alternative way to deal with things.

Safeguarding of the pupils is paramount at all times therefore training in de-escalation techniques such as Team-Teach would be ideal and can be provided to registered applicants by Teaching Personnel.

You

This role will be challenging, however would perfectly fit those with support work experience or those with a Psychology background who wish to gain experience in understanding behaviour and mental health.
