1:1 Teaching Assistant Opportunity – Support a Pupil with Cerebral Palsy & SEMH Needs | Gorton | September 2025 – April 2026
Are you an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant with a background in supporting children with physical disabilities and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs?
A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Gorton (M18) is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work with a KS2 pupil with cerebral palsy from September 2025 until April 2026. This is a highly rewarding, full-time role for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference in a child’s education and well-being.
The Role:
-
Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with cerebral palsy, assisting with mobility, personal care, and access to learning
-
Offer emotional and behavioural support to help the pupil regulate and engage positively in class
-
Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver a tailored learning experience
-
Help create a nurturing, consistent, and encouraging environment for the child to thrive
✅ Requirements:
-
Previous experience supporting children with cerebral palsy or similar physical disabilities
-
Strong understanding of SEMH strategies and approaches
-
Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships
-
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow support plans
-
Moving and handling or medical care training (desirable, but training can be provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
