SEMH Support

Are you a resilient, empathetic and experienced support professional looking for a rewarding role? We are working with a nurturing and inclusive primary school to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS2 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, starting in September 2025.

This is a full-time role offering the chance to make a real difference in the life of a young learner by providing stability, encouragement and tailored support throughout the school day.

The Role:

• Providing 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with SEMH needs

• Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies

• Supporting emotional regulation and developing social skills

• Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and outside agencies to implement a consistent support plan

• Encouraging academic engagement and helping the pupil achieve their learning goals

✅ You Will Need:

• Experience working with children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (in a school or alternative provision)

• Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach

• Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff

• A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

• Teamwork, patience and a good sense of humour

• A DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)

• Experienced Behaviour Support Assistants

• Youth Workers or Pastoral Support Workers transitioning to education

• Individuals from SEN schools or PRU backgrounds

• Teaching Assistants with strong 1:1 experience
