Are you a resilient, empathetic and experienced support professional looking for a rewarding role? We are working with a nurturing and inclusive primary school to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a KS2 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, starting in September 2025.
This is a full-time role offering the chance to make a real difference in the life of a young learner by providing stability, encouragement and tailored support throughout the school day.
The Role:
-
Providing 1:1 support to a KS2 pupil with SEMH needs
-
Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
-
Supporting emotional regulation and developing social skills
-
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and outside agencies to implement a consistent support plan
-
Encouraging academic engagement and helping the pupil achieve their learning goals
✅ You Will Need:
-
Experience working with children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour (in a school or alternative provision)
-
Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
-
Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
-
A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
-
Teamwork, patience and a good sense of humour
-
A DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)

Youth Workers or Pastoral Support Workers transitioning to education

Individuals from SEN schools or PRU backgrounds
-
Teaching Assistants with strong 1:1 experience

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
