Teaching Personnel is seeking a caring, resilient, and enthusiastic SEN Support Worker to join a specialist secondary school in Higher Blackley from September.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support young people with a range of additional needs, helping them overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in a supportive specialist setting.

The Role

As an SEN Support Worker, you will work closely with students who may have:

✅ Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
✅ Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
✅ Complex Learning and Development Difficulties (CLDD)
✅ Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH)
✅ Communication and sensory processing difficulties

You will provide both 1:1 and small group support, helping students engage in learning, develop independence, improve social skills, and regulate their emotions throughout the school day.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored support to students with complex additional needs.
• Encourage participation in lessons and school activities.
• Build positive relationships that promote confidence and self-esteem.
• Support emotional regulation using positive behaviour strategies.
• Assist with personal care where required, including feeding, hygiene, toileting, and mobility support.
• Promote communication, social interaction, and independent living skills.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
• Maintain accurate records and adhere to safeguarding procedures at all times.

✅ What We're Looking For

• Experience supporting children, young people, or adults with additional needs.
• A calm, patient, and positive approach to managing challenging behaviour.
• Personal care experience, or willingness to undertake training.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.

⭐ Desirable Experience

• Experience with ASC, PMLD, CLDD, or SEMH needs.
• Team Teach or similar behaviour management training.
• Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, or alternative communication methods.
• Background in specialist education, support work, healthcare, residential care, or youth work.
