Are you looking to transition from a Mental Health Support Worker to a Learning Mentor?

A Primary Pupil Referral Unit in Bolton wish to hire a full time Mental Health Support Worker for a January start to work within their school. The successful applicant working as a behaviour mentor will join a supportive staff team and undertake regular training; there is an opportunity for this to become a permanent position. Teaching Personnel Manchester SEN branch work in partnership with this school based in Bolton to cater for all of their staffing needs.

The school caters for Primary aged children aged 4-11 who struggle to access education due to their learning needs, specifically you will support children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The role as a Mental Health Support Worker will include undertaking structured and agreed learning activities/programmes, both on a 1-2-1 and small group basis, taking into consideration pupil learning styles.

  • Ad-hoc supply work available to cover absences and staff training

  • Pay to reflect your experience, earn up to £9.50 per hour (£57 - £66 per day)

Teaching Personnel's Mental Health Support Worker's work with pupils who are achieving below a mainstream schools expectation, mainly for low attendance and behaviour. Pupils may be at risk of exclusion, or have been temporarily been excluded already. The role of behaviour mentor will be working alongside key school staff to reduce levels of unauthorised absence and improve attendance and behaviour. Our staff builds productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.

To be considered for the Mental Health Support Worker position you will ideally be/have;

  • Prior experience working with Special Educational Needs
  • Experience supporting or assisting children with behaviour aged 4-11
  • The ability to develop good relationships with pupils
  • Safeguarding knowledge or training , level 1 or above

Mental Health Support Worker challenge and motivate, promoting and reinforcing self-esteem alongside providing levels of individual pastoral support to pupils. This school are looking to recruit on a full time basis which could become permanent, however if you are interested in this work on an ad-hoc supply basis, we welcome your application for supply work.
