Student Behaviour Support Officer
Location: Rhondda Cynon Taf

We are seeking dedicated and resilient Teaching Personnel to join our team, supporting learners who may display challenging behaviour and require strong, consistent adult guidance.
We particularly welcome applications from individuals with previous Prison Service, Probation, Youth Justice, Secure Unit, or Custodial experience, who are looking to transfer their skills into a rewarding education setting.
About the Role
You will work closely with young people who benefit from structure, boundaries, and positive role modelling. This role is ideal for individuals confident in managing behaviour, de‑escalating situations, and building respectful, professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Support students within the classroom and/or specialist provision
- Manage and respond calmly to challenging behaviour
- Apply consistent boundaries while maintaining empathy and fairness
- Build positive relationships with learners who may have complex needs
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and behaviour leads
We Are Looking For People Who:
- Have experience within the Prison Service, Secure Units, Youth Offending, Probation, or similar environments
- Are confident working with individuals who display challenging behaviour
- Have strong communication, teamwork, and conflict‑management skills
- Can remain calm, professional, and consistent under pressure
- Are interested in making a positive impact through education
(Teaching qualifications are desirable but not essential – training and support can be provided.)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
