Sports Coach – Pupil Referral Unit (PRU), Knowsley – Full-Time
Are you passionate about using sport to inspire and engage young people? A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Sports Coach to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Knowsley on a full-time basis. This role offers the chance to make a real difference in the lives of students who have faced challenges in mainstream education.
About the Role:
The PRU supports pupils who have been excluded from mainstream schools and need a positive role model to help them re-engage with learning. As a Sports Coach, you will deliver dynamic and inclusive sports sessions that promote teamwork, resilience, and confidence, while helping students develop a love for physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging sports and physical education sessions tailored to individual needs.
- Encourage teamwork, communication, and personal development through sport.
- Support students in building confidence, resilience, and positive attitudes.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to support holistic development.
- Manage challenging behaviour effectively, creating a safe and supportive environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with young people, ideally in PRU or SEMH (Social, Emotional, Mental Health) settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A genuine passion for sports and the ability to inspire and motivate.
- Resilience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Relevant qualifications in sports coaching or physical education (desirable).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
