1:1 Specialist SEN Tutor (Home & School-Based)

Location: Birmingham and surrounding areas
Hours: School hours (Monday–Friday, term time)
Contract: Flexible – Part-time / Full-time opportunities available

About the Role

We are looking for passionate, dedicated, and experienced Specialist SEN Tutors to provide high-quality 1:1 tuition to children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Tuition will take place in pupils' homes or school settings during school hours across the Birmingham area.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, tailored 1:1 lessons based on each pupil's individual needs.
• Support pupils with a range of SEN, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, Speech and Language needs, and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD).
• Adapt teaching methods to maximise engagement and progress.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and school staff.
• Monitor and record pupil progress following each session.
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct at all times.

Essential Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years' teaching experience in a school, tutoring, or alternative provision setting.
• Experience working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs.
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred; experienced unqualified teachers or tutors with a strong SEN background will also be considered.
• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Right to work in the UK.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable, as travel across Birmingham may be required.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
